Emma is a Registered Psychotherapist. She completed her Bachelor of Art with a major in Psychology at the University of Guelph and completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She spent several years working with those who struggled with comorbid mental and physical health issues, This experience pushed her to make individual psychotherapy more accessible to those with developmental disabilities and chronic health issues.
Emma works through a trauma-informed and harm reduction approach. She believes the therapeutic relationship is the heart of counselling and will strive to ensure you feel safe and heard in each and every session. She will support you in balancing your own needs with all of the challenges life might bring your way. She works with challenges such as abortion, anxiety, depression, dual diagnosis, eating disorders, life transitions, self-esteem, self-harming, sexual abuse, stress, suicidal ideation, social anxiety, trauma and financial trauma, work/life issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and pregnancy and infant loss. Emma is open to working with individuals at all stages of life including children and adults.
As an integrative therapist, Emma draws from Cognitive- Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
