Emma Giao is a Registered Psychotherapist and she completed her Bachelor of Art with a major in Psychology at the University of Guelph and has recently completed her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She has spent the last two years working in the adult developmental service sector, with individuals with co-morbid mental and physical health issues. This experience pushed her to make individual psychotherapy more accessible to those with developmental disabilities and chronic health issues.
Emma works through a trauma-informed and harm reduction approach. She believes the therapeutic relationship is the heart of counselling and will strive to ensure you feel safe and heard in each and every session. She will support you in balancing your own needs with all of the challenges life might bring your way. She works with challenges such as abortion, anxiety, chronic illness, depression, dual diagnosis, eating disorders, life transitions, personal growth, self-esteem, self-harming, sexual abuse, stress, suicidal ideation, social anxiety, trauma and financial trauma, work/life issues and youth and adult offenders. Emma is open to working with individuals at all stages of life including children and adults.
